Green Property Puts UniMac "Hercules" to Work
July 14th, 2009
The Holiday Inn Lakewood Denver has ramped up efforts to lower its impact on the environment. Energy Star appliances, recycling programs, linen re-use programs and low-flow shower heads and toilets are just a few of the measures undertaken.
In the laundry, green activities continued with the addition of a UniMac UW150 washer-extractor, equipped with the UniLinc control. Staff has even nicknamed the 150-pound capacity machine "Hercules" for its ability to spin so much water out of loads with a 300 G-force extract cycle. In its Environmental Policy, the property cites the washer's strengths and positive impact:
"The UWTV uses less water than conventional bath-style rinses and requires significantly shorter drying time (without the additional steel, parts and materials) than any comparable machine on the market. Reduced water consumption translates into less hot water and lower gas consumption; fast cycle times equals less electricity. Also uses recycled materials."
